How Should a Christian Live? Word of Promise Next Generation Devotional

How Should a Christian Live? Word of Promise Next Generation Devotional

This book was provided to me free of charge by the BOOKsneeze program. I found that this book would be great for young teenagers for several reasons. The first thing that was great was the cover. It is colorful and eye catching, which in this day and age is important to get the attention of young people. The second is that the readings are broken into easy to read and apply topics with sub headings of get it, grab it, hold it, give it, define it, live it. This helps to make sense of what they are reading and apply it to their life and share what they have learned with others. The next is the cd. This has some of today’s more well know people. These are people that they might be more inclined to look up to and follow by example. One thing that I did find about this book is that there is quite a bit of journal pages to write on. I think that this is a bit excessive but depending on who you are it could be a plus if you like to write a lot. Over all I would recommend this book as great for teens and pre teens.

Plan B What Do You Do When God Doesn’t Show Up the Way You Thought He Would?

Plan B What Do You Do When God Doesn’t Show Up the Way You Thought He Would?
By Pete Wilson

I am very glad to say that I was fortunate enough to receive a copy of this book free of charge from the BOOKsneeze program .
This book was full of wonderful stories of people who have encountered situations in their lives that they thought God should have responded or helped in a certain way but did not. In fact Gods answers come the exact way he means them to. This may or may not be apparent right away but eventually it will reveal itself to you. This book deals with the stories of these peoples Plan B with respect on how to deal with these situations.
I found this book to be an easy read and I easily identified with one or more of the situations. I would highly recommend this book to anyone really because you are sure to relate in one way or another. This book could personally help you through a tough situation in your life and help you to see things in a different light.

Media review - The Red Letters Project Produced by . Symbionic Entertainment

This is the first media review that I have done and I must say boy am I impressed! Everything about the red letters Project impressed me!
First I’d like to start with the title. I had a friend come up to me and ask me why it was called the red letters project. I began to explain the words of Jesus in the Bible are a lot of the time written in red. Since this was a cd compilation of the book of Matthew, I found this Title very Appropriate and intriguing. It is something that makes you want to pick it up and find out what it is about.
The next thing I’d like to talk about is the packaging. This packaging is very pleasing to the eye. The front sleeve screams look at me, I am different. And the fact that it has a sleeve to protect what is inside is fabulous. Once you look inside, I loved that the 3 cds are each done in a different color so that they are easily distinguishable. I did find that the included book of Matthew looks more like a brochure, but once you look inside at the colors, graphics, and quality of the paper it is written on, it is great. There is a sleeve that the book slides right into so you will be sure not to lose it.
Lastly but certainly not least, the music. Wow. I was so surprised and impressed with this music. I have never heard the bible sound like this before. I have listened to other Christian music before but it sounded much different. This music is not your typical church hymns.
This music is very modern, hip, and cool even. In my opinion this music is best suited for preteens, teenagers, and people in their 20’s, and 30’s. This music sounds very rock alternative in genre. With that being said I think that this music could be enjoyed by anyone in any age group.
I found that they did an amazing job on this project. The singers are fantastic. I also loved the way they mixed the songs on the cds. You have a few up beat songs and then a ballad. It really gave the cds a nice pace.
Overall I believe that The Red Letters Project is a must have for everyone who loves god, but especially for teens/preteens as it will help them (in a fun and “cool” way) as they grow closer to god. This would make a great gift.* This review copy was provided courtesy of Tyndale House Publishers

Book Review - Essentials for Life: Your Back-to-Basics Guide to What Matters Most By Marcia Ford

I requested this book from the Booksneeze program, but I couldn’t wait for it to come to me in the mail, so I borrowed my friends copy. I enjoyed it just as much as they did and probably more!
This book is comprised of short easy “chapters” or topics if you will, that center around a particular thought or question, about the way you view faith/religion/god etc. One of the things that I particularly liked about this book is the way it made you think about things. It really asks you to question (in a good way) or examine how you have come to believe what you believe, or why you believe (or do not believe) in something. It challenges you to look at things not just in your point of view but also from the different points of view of other people, as well as people from the Bible. This book also encourages you to pick up different copies of the Bible and look at verses from each version of the Bible and compare the differences. This will allow you to get familiar with a version of the Bible that you may find easier to understand and learn from.
Another thing that I really liked about this book is that it is non sequential. So if you have a busy life and cannot commit an hour or two at a time to reading, this book will allow you to pick it up and read a “chapter” or topic that you can relate to in that moment. I did end up reading it from the front to the back sequentially, however I will be able to in the future, pick it up, and start at the end, or in the middle.
I also loved the “what’s essential” portions of each “chapter” at the end that give you some do’s and don’ts which summarize the main points of each “chapter.” I found that this was a great refresher to the “chapter” that allowed you to help understand what you just read in a brief point form method.
The multiple Biblical references in each “chapter” were fantastic as well as the quotes and references in the side bar.
Over all I really enjoyed this book! I would recommend it to anyone I know. It is well worth the read and it will be a great coffee table book, one that you will constantly pick up and enjoy over and over again.
I received this book from Thomas Nelson Publishers as part of their BookSneeze.com <http://BookSneeze.com> book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
